'NOTICE. A PUBLIC MEETING will take place AT LLECHRYD'

This notice for a meeting about local grievances and their potential resolution shows us Rebecca was addressed not only by force; offers of reconciliation and attempts to strike at the motivations for rioting were also made.

However, the notice underlines that, though negotiation is possible, authority still lies firmly in the hands of the Queen and government, calling the southern counties one of 'Her Majesty's Dominions'.

Additionally, the notice only guarantees that grievances will be 'considered', and is rather less promising in terms of their resolution, bringing into question how successful such a meeting was expected to be, and even if holding one at all was more posturing by local authorities than anything.
